Bezoek de Phraya Nakhon grot in het Sam Roi Yot National Park ten zuiden van Hua hin. Dit is een uiterst indrukwekkende grot omdat de top van de grot is ingestort. Door het gat komt licht en water naar binnen waardoor bomen zijn gaan groeien in deze grot. De Thaise koning, Rama V vond dit al een prachtig grot en heeft er rond 1890 zijn Paviljoen neergezet.

De trip om bij de grot te komen is ook een klein avontuur. Er gaat een stijl pad omhoog naar de grot vanaf Laem Sala Beach maar om op dit strandje te komen moet eerst een voettocht worden gemaakt of een bootje worden genomen. Neem goede schoenen mee en u heeft een heerlijke dagtrip.

Such a must see!, but: DO NOT! fall for the boat tour, is very expensive for the ridiculous distance they "spare you",... when after you still have to climb for your life to reach the cave. THe double pricing for foreigners is NOT worth it. Thailand has a lot to learn in terms of making profit from their natural wonders in regards to foreigners.read more

National park entry fee:40 baht (local)200 baht (foreigners)*if you can speak Thai and look Asian you can get away... with getting a local ticket (however they might ask for Thai ID)*Number 6 on the map is where the cave is located - Kaeo Cave. After you park your vehicle and head towards the sandy area, you can either choose to take a boat (400 baht for 1 boat) and cut across or trek over a small hill which takes 20 mins (relaxed pace). If you’re going by foot you will meet people from the boat at the foot of the hill, then you’ll see a small local restaurant, followed by a restroom area before the trail that leads to the cave.Some steps with moss or mud can be slippery, overall if you wear trainers will you have a good grip. The trail lasts around 40 mins, when you reach the cave there is a dark tunnel that leads further into the cave where you’ll be able to see a shrine - you’ll be able to walk around the shrine and see different features of the cave. The trek is child friendly as I saw many young children and teenagers walking and exploring the cave.There isn’t another way out so you must turn around and walk the way you came in, take the boat or trek back. The local, open-air restaurant has decent Thai food or if you’re not feeling hungry you can order a whole coconut “ma-pow loob” or blended “ma-pow bahn”read more

Beautiful hike and cave/cavern destination. They said at the beginning it was a 2 km hike to the cave, so better to... start early. It was easily a 3hrs round trip for my daughter and I including gazing time.Then you have a short hike in flat, sea level terrain along the beach to a restaurant and drop off point if you go by the boats. From the restaurant there is another short hike to the start up the mountains to Phraya Nahon Cave. We saw families of Duskey leaf monkeys on the initial hike over from the beach and again near the start of the mountain climb. The climb into the cave was med strenuous.read more

The fact that Thai authorities impose a dual pricing scheme whereby foreigners pay 200THB per entry vs. a fraction for... locals is irrelevant, as it's a quite common practice around Thailand, like it or not.But the site is well worth paying even the extra money: an absolutely stunning and gigantic underground scenery. The access is quite tough but anyone with normal fitness can afford it, with quite some sweat. Bring enough water and avoid flip-flops. The boat ride can be saved as it only avoids the first not very difficult hike to the beach below the cave itself. The real climb starts there. I counted about 750 steps up the steep path, then you start walking down soon getting inside the cave, rewarding you with the impressive site. Keep some stamina for the way back. Possible in 2 hours, if your time is limited, including the selfies.read more

An absolutely magnificent place. You must go there during your stay in Thailand. Simply provide good walking shoes... (Thai people are used to it and go there in thongs ;-)). A little physical course, necessary to have a correct physical condition. But the effort is worth a look ;-). Superb!read more

A really great day out, an amazing adventure.You need to be very fit to visit this cave, even using the boat trip to... reduce the journey time to the cave, you have an arduous walk up a steep incline.Wear strong trainers or boots and go supported by a back pack of water and energy bars.The trip is worth it, recommended.read more

Hoe kom ik er?

De Phraya Nakhon grot ligt 50km ten zuiden van Hua hin centrum. U kunt hier prima naar toe met een taxi of met eigen vervoer. Zodra u Huahin uit bent kunt u prima navigeren op weg want de wegen zijn redelijk rustig.
